Hello all, me again! It’s been another fun week in the world of baby pony.

On Monday she-who-brings-carrots came to see me and we did some running in circles. It was different this time though as instead of the normal things she puts on me to stop me being nosey she had this weird blue thing that looked like a torture device! I made sure I snorted really loudly at it in case it was alive and to show my disgust but it wasn’t. I have to admit I like this one better really as it doesn’t make me do anything I don’t want to. Towards the end she started saying good girl lots when I lowered my head….weirdo!

Wednesday was very exciting if very hard work. We got all dressed up and then someone I didn’t recognise turned up. We went to say hello and then went to where we run around in circles. Normally it’s easy running round in circles with she-who-brings-carrots on board but this lady kept shouting things are her which meant she made me do hard work! Not only that but they were really bossy and even when I got tired I had to carry on until they told me to! How rude! I have to admit once I understood what they wanted it was quite fun but not letting me be lazy is mean really.

Friday I ran round in circles with the funny straps on again and this time I made sure I stretched down sooner and I got lots of ‘good girls’, I like being told how good and clever I am! Daddy was there too and apparently he got a really cute photo of us…..like a photo with me in could not be cute!

That brings us to Saturday. I have to say I’m very proud of myself as I was the bravest baby pony ever! We went out of a walk on our own but instead of going where we normally do we went down the narrow bit we went down with our friends a few weeks ago. When I realised where we were going I stood still to make sure it was safe (and that she meant it) then I walked down it. She was making that funny noise she does sometimes that sounds like cats fighting and it was so embarrassing I didn’t have time to get scared. There were some funny looking things that looked like they might bite my feet so I went round them slowly and kept my eye on them but other than that it was actually quite fun. Not only that but I got lots and lots of pats when we got back onto the road, I could get used to that!

On Sunday she-who-brings-carrots was late and we didn’t get to go out for a walk because she had a big lump on her head (apparently her metal thing bit her) so she couldn’t get her hat on. Instead we went for a walk as we haven’t been for a while. We went over the metal things then went down past the scary fence only this time we went all the way past the man in a stable and aaaaaalllllll the way to the end of the fence. We stopped so I could have a look around then we went back and I remembered being made to walk backwards when I rushed last time so I made sure I didn’t do it. I also got to stop and meet a little person who made funny noises while the big person holding it told me how good and pretty I am. I love people!

That’s all from me for another week. Speak to you all soon.

Tuesday, 13 April 2010

Hello all, sorry this is a little late, it’s been hard to get hold of the lap top.

On Monday she-who-brings-carrots came to see me and we got all dressed up. As we were leaving we spotted one of our friends so we went for a short walk over the metal things with her then I had to do some trotting in circles when we got back. It was ok but I’m still not convinced this trotting in circles thing is much fun.

On Wednesday we went for a walk the same as we normally do only this time we had to go loads further than we normally do. I made sure I kept a good eye out for monsters but she-who-brings-carrots kept making me walk up to scary things and getting me to sniff them. Doesn’t she know you’re meant to run away from monsters not make friends with them!

We went a far as the man in a box then we came back again. Any time I got too fast she made me stop and go backwards! I was only trying to get back to eating. I wasn’t trying to be rude honest I just like t eat. Once I walked normally we got home quicker without having to stop and go backwards so I guess I should do that in future, it’s just hard to remember when there’s food on the brain.

On Friday she-who-brings-carrots turned up and she had a present for me, I like presents! Well normally I do, I can’t say I liked this one much. We got all dressed up ready to go out then she put new leg warmers on under my normal ones. These new leg warmers were funny and came up over my knees. I didn’t much like them but I do like going on walks so I obliged.

Half way round our walk she asked me to trot on. I didn’t see how it was possible to trot with my new leg warmers on so I just shuffled a bit then went back to walking. Apparently that wasn’t good enough so she shouted ‘Get on with it you silly mare!’ and squeezed me harder than I normally do. I don’t like it when she shouts so I trotted really fast, as it turns out I could trot in my new warmers, opps! After that we had a few more trots and all was fine (apart from all the usual scary monsters of course).

On Saturday she-who-brings-carrots didn’t turn up when she said she would, which is fine by me as I don’t like early mornings. We got dressed up and she got my running round in circles. I had to do loads of stopping and starting, walking then trotting then walking again etc. I even had to do stop then trotting then stop! This is all very hard work for a baby pony let me tell you. As well as this I had to do lots of turning and bending AND I had to move sideways! It was all very hard work, especially with her bouncing around on top so we didn’t do it for very long but I must have done well because I got lots of pats and carrots =D

That’s all for now folks, I’ll write again soon!

Sunday, 4 April 2010

I have to admit it started out a pretty rotten week, I was beginning to think she-who-brings-carrots had forgotten about me but no such luck! I do like all the yummy things and cuddles but I’m still not keen on this hard work thing!

On Thursday she came to see me and we went for a walk. This walking out thing is getting really quite boring you know! Yet again we went over the metal things, down the road and around the running in circles thing for the metal things. I made sure I kept an eye out for monsters to keep she-who-brings-carrots on her toes but it was easy really I just don’t want her to get bored.

When we got home she was getting me ready to go in the field but then pulled this white thing from behind her back and tried to put it in my mouth! There was no way that was happening (I hate things being near my mouth) so I tried to get back to my friends. Apparently I ‘had to get used to it’ so she-who-brings-carrots started by having in the hoof she was holding me and and rubbed my mouth with the other one. Once I decided that wasn’t scary she did it with the white thing in her hand. Once I worked out that wasn’t scary either I let her put it in my mouth. As it turns out it wasn’t that bad at all, opps!

On Friday it was raining lots again and she-who-brings-carrots did exactly that. She came to see me, we had a cuddle and she gave me a carrot then the others butted in and she went again. She didn’t look like she normally does either.

The following day was very busy as everyone was doing lots of jobs and there were lots of metal things driving around. She-who-brings-carrots still didn’t look right and I can’t say I’m complaining. She made me look pretty then we got all dressed up (complete with yellow thing on my bum) and we just went for a really short walk. As much fun as it is to go out I could get used to the easy life!

Today she was obviously starting to get back to her normal self, as I had to do some hard work. Somebody had moved everything out of the way and made a straight line and some corners where I normally have to run round in circles. She made me stay inside this box shape and do lots of stopping and starting AND lots of trotting. We didn’t do it for very long because I get bored but I must have done something right as I was trotting along then stood still when she told me to and I got lots of pats and she called me a clever pony. Best of all I got to stop!

Better get all the food I can before she comes back tomorrow, night all!

Sunday, 28 March 2010

All in all this has been a good week but I’m a little fed up of the rain, I’m going to need flippers on my hooves soon!

On Tuesday and Thursday she-who-brings-carrots came to see me but it was raining really heavily and I was really wet so we just had a cuddle and a quick chat and then she went home.

On Friday she turned up in the morning (apparently she had the day off work for a fune-eral, I’ve got no idea what one of those is but if she gets time to make me run in circles it can’t be good!). She-who-brings-carrots put my saddle on and put this funny yellow thing on my bum. I wasn’t too sure about it but I’m getting used to her doing odd things.

I was running round in circles but that little dog was with her and kept getting in my way so I stopped so that he could move but he just looked scared so she-who-brings-carrots shouted at him and he went and sat next to him.

On Saturday she turned up and we got all dressed up and she put the yellow thing on my bum again. I forgot it was there because there were sooooo many other scary things going on. She-who-brings-carrots said something about the spring grass and me having too much energy but I just think there were extra scary monsters.

Then I may have embarrassed myself. I was happily walking along and needed to go to the little pony’s room and started to when all of a sudden I realised there was something on my bum. Thinking it was a monster I tried to run away (ok so I trotted two strides) and she-who-brings-carrots said something about wanting me to stop ‘being such a dippy tart’ (RUDE!) and that it was ‘only the bloody Parsons Rump I’ve had on for the whole hack’. At this point I was a little bit embarrassed so just got on with it and walked home quietly.

That brings us to today. She-who-brings-carrots arrived and we got all dressed up and then he-who-brings-mints arrived. We did some schooling while he watched. It was quite fun after a while really even though she was being a numpty and not telling me what to do properly and not helping me go around corners. We even got to play over some coloured things on the ground, I like playing over those!

All in all this has been a good week in the world of baby pony.

Sunday, 21 March 2010

Is it this time already, doesn’t time fly when you’re a busy baby pony.

This week has been lovely really. We’ve had our rugs off too so I can do lots of rolling and scratching, I’m hoping the rubbed patch on my shoulder grows back quickly, nobody likes a girl with a bald patch.

On Tuesday she-who-brings-carrots and I went for a walk. Being the now super brave pony that I am I didn’t spook at anything going over the metal things or down the track, I did have to give that big white box a look as always though.I’m convinced it’s harbouring scary things!

We went even further than normal this time and went all the way to running in circles bit for cars. We went all the way round it and although I had to eye up the big gates there was nothing scary so I just walked past and then she-who-brings-carrots spotted someone she knew. We ended up stood for aaggeeesss so I had a good sniff to see if her metal thing was edible, it wasn’t but I got a fuss and told how pretty I am. Now that I don’t mind hanging around for! When we got back I got lots of fuss from she-who-brings-carrots too.

I didn’t get to see her again until Friday because she forgot her brothers birthday so had to do some emergency shopping apparently, personally I don’t see how that is more important than bringing my sweets but there you go. It was all drizzly and rubbish and I had to do the running in circles thing. Not much fun but I was sure there was something in the hedge when I was going round on the right so made sure I ran away from it really fast every time I went past, especially when she told me to canter.

She kept going on about how there was nothing scary and kept trying to make me walk past slowly but I wasn’t convinced. In the end I just got bored so decided to just do it so I could stop going in circles and guess what, it worked! I then got lots of fuss too and sweeties too.

On Saturday it rained lots and I was all wet and didn’t have a coat on so she-who-brings-carrots just came up to say hello and feed me sweets…I liked that as I didn’t have to do any work.

It didn’t last though and on Sunday she turned up and gave me lots of scratches and got lots of hair off me, I’ll admit that was nice.

Then we went for a walk round the block. As we were leaving one of my friends was upset and shouted so I spent the first 5 minuets trying to go back and make her feel better. Stupid she-who-brings-carrots wouldn’t let me though!

After that I remembered that going round the block really is fun and really enjoyed myself. When we got home she gave me even more scratches then started trying to make my hair look pretty so I dozed off. It’s quite therapeutic when she does that.

All in all it’s been a good week I think.

Sunday, 14 March 2010

Afternoon all.

Just a short one this week as I’ve not really been up to much this week. She-who-brings-carrots has been off gallivanting and not bringing me food. Whoever told her she was allowed a social life needs a good talking to!

On Monday she-who-brings-carrots turned up and got my all ready to do the running in circles thing. We walked to the riding place and before we started she made me walk over a little log. She’s really weird sometimes! It’s only a log, I don’t get the big deal but whatever keeps her entertained. I did the running in circles thing then got lots of scratches when I was finished.

On Wednesday she came too but she was all ready to ride, I thought it was a bit odd since I only normally do the running in circles thing during the week but she does provide yummy food so I’m not going to argue! Unlike when we normally go riding she took loads of time to get me looking even prettier than normal and we stood around for ages before we got all dressed up. I even got to watch my friends run around like loons. Eventually we got started but as we were walking she-who-brings-carrots checked my girth and something pinched me so I ran away. I did stop when I’d realised there was nothing bad and then we did LOOOOOOADS of trotting and going in circles. I got a bit bored to be honest so I started trying to go and talk to my friends but she just made me carry on. I am starting to get the hang of this trotting in circles thing without loosing my balance it’s just a bit boring really.

I’ve had the rest of this week off but I’m sure it won’t last and I’ll be back to running in circles next week.

Sunday, 7 March 2010

It’s about that time again folks. I’ve had another busy week again, I’m getting to quite enjoy this really.

On Tuesday she-who-brings-carrots turned up and as always made me do the running in circles thing. When we’d finish she also made me go for a walk! As if I hadn’t done enough already! We only went over the metal things on the bridge and a little way down the path but still…I was tired!

On Thursday I didn’t have to do the running in circles thing (Yay!) but we did go for a longer walk than normal. We went over the bridge again, down the path and then down the road! Since I haven’t been this far on a walk before I had to make sure I checked it out for monsters. She-who brings-carrots told me I was silly again. On the way back she said hello to a person who was carrying a little person, they looked REALLY scary so I tried to get away, only to be told to ‘pack it in!’….I was only thinking of our safety! As it turned out they were actually really nice and fussed me and told me I was pretty. I could start enjoying walks if this is what happens.

Soon enough Saturday came around and she-who-brings-carrots turned up again with lots of carrots. She gave me a really good groom while she was talking to daddy about something called ‘Dumball’. I got bored and had a little snooze. We went out for a walk but we went past where we normally go, I was very concerned by this. More worrying was that she started singing! I have to admit it was so bad it did keep me distracted for looking for monsters. We went through the woods that I don’t like. It’s far too enclosed; there are far too many places for monsters to hide! I was very good and listened to she-who-brings-carrots and just walked through, I did go faster than normal though. On the way back when we were almost home there was something REALLY scary on the path. A person was pushing something that looked like it might eat me. I was good and just gave it a wide berth, which meant getting in the way of the metal things but I just wasn’t brave enough to walk past it. She-who-brings-carrots gave me lots of pats and apologised to the metal things. We got home safe all thanks to my looking after our safety.

That brings us to today, she-who-brings-carrots didn’t look all that great again, apparently she hadn’t been to bed yet! We got ready and she-who-brings-carrots persuaded daddy and Spirit to come with us. I was in front which I’ve not done before so I was a bit unsure and walked a bit slowly at first but I soon got the hang of it. We only went round the block but it was lots of fun and it was nice to have a friend to walk with for a change. I was very brave and walked in front all the way round. I got lots of yummies when we got back so I must have been really good. She-who-brings-carrots went home for a sleep and I got to go out without my coat on, all in all a good day!

Sunday, 28 February 2010

Hello all, it’s that time again.

She-who-brings-carrots turned up on Monday this week and I knew what was coming so I thought I’d give her a taste of her own medicine and make her do some work for once. I made her follow me round the field for five minuets before I left her catch me. That’ll teach her for making me run around in circles! She put the straps on again this time too. How am I meant to be nosey with those things on…honestly it’s just rude really.

I then didn’t see she-who-brings-carrots until Thursday and she didn’t look her normal self so I gave her a good sniff and she gave me carrots. The best bit was I didn’t have to run round in circles! I think she should have ton-sil-eye-tus (I think that’s what she said she had) more often. I could get used to being a lady of leisure again.

Unfortunately it didn’t last and on Saturday she turned up again and this time we went out round the block. Since she’s been ill I thought I’d better look after both of us and be doubly on the look out for monsters. I’m not entirely sure my efforts were appreciated though as she spent a lot of time laughing at me and telling me to stop ‘being such a silly baggage’. Honestly! Some people are so ungrateful, I was only thinking of her safety. When we got back she did look very tired though so I did feel a little bit guilty. I still got lots of itchies with the black thing so I obviously wasn’t that bad after all.

Today she-who-brings-carrots turned up and she had that little dog with her. I like him. We always say hello although he always looks very scared when I get close enough to say hello, then again he is really small so I suppose a giant coming up to you could be a bit scary. She got my bridle out but then she got to long rope she uses when I have to run around in circles. I really wasn’t impressed with the thought of running around in circles but she-who-brings-carrots explained that we weren’t going to run around in circles we were just going to go for a walk so I let her attach the rope. We went over the bridge where I got really scared last week. Apparently she-who-brings-carrots thinks I’m being a big baby (errr…hello….I AM a baby…duh!) so she’s going to walk with me for a little while until I get used to the idea that it’s ok to go somewhere new. I got to play king of the castle over the metal things, that was fun! I was on the look out for monsters to start with but then I relaxed and I actually quite enjoyed going for a walk. We only went to the gate to the road and back but we stopped for a snack before we came back too. I guess going somewhere new isn’t really that bad if I get to eat. When we got back I got lots of carrots for being brave. I could get used to that too.

Sunday, 21 February 2010

Hello all, Luna here again. She-who-brings-carrots is sleepy so I’ve yet again been left to update this. I might carry on doing all the typing though, I quite like it.

This week has been a busy week. On Tuesday she-who-brings-carrots came to make me do the running in circles thing again. We went to the riding bit instead of where she normally makes me do it and there was lots of things which were reealllllyyyyy scary so I made sure I kept my eye on everything. After a while she made me stand still and told me I was ‘a silly tart’. How rude! Then, she made me walk towards the monsters! I’m really beginning to question her sanity you know, she even climbed over the monster and made me follow her. I made sure I went really quick so it couldn’t eat me. She laughed and said that ‘it’s only a cross pole’ and that ‘I’d better get used to them’ so she made me keep following her until I stopped going over it really fast. Turns out it wasn’t a monster and it was really quite fun. We went for a walk to cool down and went down the path that my friends live down. She-who-brings-carrots was talking about parties with my friends carrot-bringers. I like them they tell me how lovely I am.

On Thursday she came again only this time she put the straps on so I had to work properly instead of being nosey. I’m not impressed with this working hard thing you know. It seriously cuts into my eating time!

That brings us to the weekend. She-who-brings-carrots turned up REALLY early on Saturday and we got dressed up ready to go out. We didn’t go the normal way though and I wasn’t sure what was going on. We had to walk up a hill and at the top I could see lots of those metal things going underneath. It was very odd! I stood and had a look while she told me how amazing I am then we carried on. We walked down the track and onto the metal things track. I wasn’t sure I liked going this way on my own so I made sure I kept a look out for monsters. We went as far as a scary looking gate then she let me turn around. I could relax a little bit then cause I hadn’t seen any monsters the first time around. We walked back over the hill with the metal things underneath then when we got back I had to do more work! How mean is she-who-brings-carrots. To add insult to injury we cantered but she didn’t ask me properly so I got a bit confused then when we stopped she got off and didn’t look like her normal self. I was a bit worried she might have colic or something so I gave her a good sniff but she seemed ok after a little while. Once we’d got undressed she got all the brushes out and gave her a beauty session. She even pulled some of my hair out. I didn’t mind it at all though; I like people paying lots of attention.

Today it was a bit snowy to start with but it had nearly all gone when she finally turned up. She gave me lots of attention and let me eat from the big pile of hay for a little bit, then he-who-brings-mints turned up and gave she-who-brings-carrots her boots. He didn’t have anything yummy for me though, she’s obviously not finished training him. We got dressed up and then we went to the riding place again. We did lots of walking and trotting then we had a little canter again. This time she wasn’t such a numpty and it was lots of fun. I managed to go even further than last time and she stopped me instead of me stopping because I couldn’t keep going. I’m starting to quite like this cantering malarkey. He-who-brings-mints then left and we carried on. We did some more circles in walk and trot and went over those round things on the ground then finished for the day.

Apparently someone’s coming to see me soon which sounds very exciting. I hope they bring something yummy. She-who-brings-carrots seems very excited about it so it must be bad news but I like meeting new people so I’ll keep an open mind. She’s said she’s going to come and see me even more this week. I do like the carrots but I’m not sure it’s worth the hard work. See you all again next week.

Sunday, 14 February 2010

Hello, Luna here. She-who-brings-carrots decided I should write this seeing as it’s all about me. Who am I to argue with that kind of logic?!

I was happily minding my own business on Wednesday when she-who-brings-carrots turned up. Now this is a bit odd but I thought I’d see what she wanted. It turns out she wanted me to do that running in circles thing. Now I’m not a fan of running in circles, it all seems a little bit too much like hard work. I tried to just eat but she waggled the long stick at me so I had to trot round…..how rude!! Then….she had the audacity to do it again on Friday. Running round in circles twice in one week is just not fun at all. Apparently I have to get fit ready to go to parties, as much as a party sounds fun I can’t see how they’re worth all this running around in circles.

On Saturday the one who brings carrots decided we should do some schooling. Schooling is almost as boring as running around in circles. We did lots of walking and stopping and I had to trot for aaagggeeeesss. We did get to go over things on the ground though, I like doing that so I forgave her for the trotting in circles. I thought we were done but it turns out she-who-brings-carrots had other ideas. She made me run really fast! I didn’t have to go far but it was quite fun. Apparently we’re not going to do it again soon (thank goodness it was hard work!) but she seemed really pleased we’d done it and gave me lots of pats, cuddles and scratches with the rubber thing,. I do like those!

As usual she-who-brings-carrots came to see me again. This time I didn’t have to do any of that boring stuff, we got to go out on a walk, best of all I got to go out with my friends! We went on the long-round-the-block hack that I’ve never been on before. It was a bit exciting but also a bit scary. I’m not convinced that there aren’t monsters in enclosed spaces and some of the paths we went on had high sides. I was very good though and I just walked but I kept my eye out for danger. She-who-brings-carrots kept trying to slow me down, going on about the horse in front being grumpy, I was only trying to stay with the group in case something did jump out and try to eat us. Honestly humans have no self-preservation instincts! We did stay safe though and I was even good and stood still while my friends walked on so that we could let some strange ponies go past, I got lots of pats for that. When we got back I got lots of scratchies and mints too so I must have been extra good. I don’t see what the big deal is though; I just went for a walk, nothing exciting. I’m never going to turn down free scratchies and mints though.

Well that’s what I’ve been up to this week. I better get some sleep, I’m pooped after all that excitement

An Introduction

Well I suppose before we get started I should introduce both of us.

I'm a 22yo female, I've been obsessed with horses for as long as I can remember and had my first riding lesson on my seventh birthday. Since then I've had horses on loan, brought on young horses for friends and worked with other people's horses. I don't claim to be the next Pippa Funnel, or even a good rider, but I love it and I'm always trying to develop my knowledge and skill.

Luna is a rising five year old bay mare who's owned by M. I found her through a friend as M wanted a quiet rider for her and I wanted a knew project having been horseless for eighteen months. Luna was broken by Richard Maxwell and hadn't had much consistent work for one reason or another until we were introduced not long before Christmas 2009.

So far we've been just getting to know each other and seeing lots of different things. We do lots of hacking in company and on our own. I plan on using this as a means with which to track our progress and map Luna's education.
